I can remember from the 60's the reputation of Triumph as being hold on to your britches bikes. I can still see in my eye's mind, this skinny dude with this huge Triumph having to climb up on his seat and jump down on the kick start because he didn't have enough strength to bring the engine to life. I also had to be amused at that but when that Triumph fired up, the amusement turned to envy because he own it not I.
The Triumph Bonneville was hailed as the end of all end motorcycles when it was introduced. To own a Bonneville meant your days of every owning another motorcycle was over with. A few years later out comes the Norton and guess what, you needed it, no you had to have it.
Triumph is rich in history. It supported the war effort during WWI and WWII. Their bikes were made famous during the war times. Once the war was over, the GI's in England and America wanted to own one of these puppies.
Today Triumph has been re-born and has remained true to it roots. The production of the modern Triumph Cruisers such as the Rocket III leaves you drooling once you have experience seeing one of them. The Bonneville is still around and still is strikingly cool. One look at the Triumph Speed Triple and there is no doubt that Triumph is back. This bike without moving is telling you "I am a rocket, proceed with caution". It is nice that some old things do change but they revolve into something better.
